The Proclamation: Reading of the Declaration of Independence

  • Memorial Park 1 Burns Hill Rd Wilton (map)

Stand where generations of Wilton residents have gathered to hear the words that changed the world. As the noon bell tolls, join us for a powerful and stirring public reading of the Declaration of Independence. There is nothing quite like hearing these revolutionary promises spoken aloud in the heart of our community. It’s a moment of reflection and unity, honoring the courage of 1776 and the 250 years of freedom that followed.

The reading will be performed by Wilton’s Michael Dell’Orto.  Michael is a film, stage, radio and television actor who once had a glorious stint as a member of the Continental Congress in the play 1776, at the American Stage Festival.  The reading of this piece of America’s history is near and dear to his heart.  Not only is Michael an actor, he is deeply involved in the Wilton community as a member of the Wilton Historical Society, and having served as a Wilton Heritage Commissioner.
