Planting History: Liberty Tree Dedication

As part of the Wilton 250 celebration, both the Sons of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Revolution, in conjunction with the Wilton 250 Committee, will gather our community at Whiting Park to plant two commemorative Liberty Trees. These American Liberty Elms are a living tribute to the resilient spirit of our ancestors. During the Revolutionary era, Liberty Trees served as rallying points for patriots to organize and celebrate their burgeoning independence; today, these new saplings represent a bridge between our storied past and our community's future.

Joining us for this special moment will be Wilton's own 4th graders, who will present the colors and sing a song prepared just for this occasion — because who better to plant a tree for the next 250 years than the people who will grow up in its shade?

This dedication ceremony offers a poignant moment of reflection as we literally put down roots for the next generation, ensuring that the history of Wilton's patriots continues to grow and flourish in the heart of our town.
